The 2019 Baker Hoop It Up 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament is scheduled for July 26, beginning at 9 a.m. in downtown Baker. The tournament, sponsored by Baker Chamber of Commerce, will be held in conjunction with Crazy Days. Boys and girls in grades 3-12 are invited to participate. A $20 cost of registration will include a tournament tee-shirt. Games will be twenty minutes long and rosters may consist of a maximum of four players. The Sunday Creek Sheepdog Trial near Miles City, Mont., will go on – this year with a large void, but in memory of Rene LaBree, a rancher and longtime dog trainer and trial competitor. Memorial Day services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27, at Beaver Lodge Cemetery. Veterans performing the services should arrive at 10:30 a.m. During the service, members of VFW Auxiliary will honor fallen soldiers by placing a white cross and a red, poppy covered wreath in the center of the cemetery. The National Weather Service out of Billings will be instructing a Spotter Training Class in Alzada and Ekalaka. The National Weather Service relies on trained volunteers to supplement Doppler radar information on severe storms and severe weather. Their valuable cooperation is important in the warning process.
