November 13, 2023 Tie Creek and Capitol are back to moderate fall weather. There were a few sprinkles of rain, and a windy day or two. Dick and Erma Albert had a good week. Erma was glad to go to the chiropractor, on Wednesday. She planned to have pies for Friday’s Senior Citizens’ Dinner, but needed some supplies, so on Thursday, she and Dick went shopping in Spearfish. It turned into an Indian summer week at Capitol and on Tie Creek. The week began with a little snow, but that has all melted into some mud. It is good weather to keep the dust down in the corrals, but some have found it difficult to get trucks in for shipping. The World Famous Miles City Bucking Horse Sale began as a way to sell some unwanted horses but soon evolved into a famous and iconic Western event. In 1950, salesyard owner, Les Boe, and his son-in-law, Bob Pauley, purchased steers from Harvey Lester of Ekalaka who threw some unbroken horses into the deal. The rains that were predicted for Capitol and Tie Creek, didn’t produce much moisture this week. There has been fog, early on some days, so the moisture may come in January. To the voters of Ekalaka and surrounding area in regard to the coming vote on the school’s housing bond: The school is already fleecing the taxpayers in town and in the county. The school has already purchased property and housing, removing said properties from the local tax base. The town of Ekalaka exists on taxes. The county owns a lot of ground in Ekalaka with the courthouse, museum, hospital, fairgrounds, old county shop, and Carter County Schools — all non taxable grounds.
