    Local veteran Rich Burch lost his home located on Senator St. in Ekalaka to fire on February 21st. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault. Burch was not home at the time of the fire. Ekalaka Volunteer Fire Department was on scene. The home is still standing, but due to extensive damage it is not yet known whether or not the structure can/will be saved.     A fire that started on Monday approximately sixteen miles south of Ekalaka on Highway 323 burned 3,177 acres. The fire was aided by high winds and jumped the highway, making it to Box Elder Creek. Four different producers had land burned. The fire was about six miles long and one mile wide.
