    After a three-year stint as the superintendent at Ekalaka Public Schools, Daniel Schrock resigned last week. Schrock took over the position in 2016 and wrote in a June 13 letter to the Eagle that he decided to resign in order to pursue another professional opportunity within education that will allow him to be closer to family.     Ekalaka Public Schools will be hosting a preschool developmental screening on Tuesday, October 23, from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the grade school gym. The screening will be for children aged 0 - 5 who are not currently in kindergarten. The training was put on by Gordon Hahn, a retired Montana superintendent and teacher who resides in Saco.     The Ekalaka Public Schools Board of Trustees approved the FY 2019 Budgets for both the Carter County High School and the Ekalaka Elementary School. Mills went from 22.75 in the FY 2018 Elementary District budget to 21.59 in FY 2019 budget. In the High School District mills dropped from 12.80 for FY 2018 to 12.17 in FY 2019.     Ekalaka public schools have received a grant through Montana Disaster and Emergency Services in the amount of $64,631.50 to be used for a new generator. Carter County was not required to match the award with non-federal funds. Carter County DES Coordinator Georgia Bruski applied for the grant which was approved in October of last year.
