After nearly two years at Ekalaka Public Schools, the first part of which was spent as principal, Superintendent Stephen Ely recently resigned. Leaders, Legends and Legacies youth football camp had another successful year in 2022 as 115 kids from around the state and nation participated. The camp was held in Boulder, Montana this year and the farthest participants came from Florida and Tennessee. Again, the kids had a unique opportunity to be coached by multiple former and current collegiate and NFL football players. According to the National Weather Service, Ekalaka received 21.5 inches of snow during last week's blizzard. By 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 11.5 inches had accumulated, another 7.5 had fallen by 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday saw 2.5 inches. The snow resulted in 1.41 inches of precipitation. A spring blizzard that started early Tuesday morning brought some much needed moisture to the area but also created hazardous travel conditions and posed a significant threat to young livestock. Over eighty people attended a town hall meeting with Governor Greg Gianforte at Carter County Events Center last Thursday.
