The CCHS FCCLA program held their annual Easter Egg Hunt last Sunday at Cayden's Park in Ekalaka. Shirley Laureen (Rene) Frye LaBree passed away on March 8, 2019 at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, Montana, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Rene was born in Baker, MT, on January 12, 1947, the second child of Glen Edward Frye and Ethel Marie Arnold Frye. She joined an older brother Richard Alan born June 14, 1945. In the Fall of 2017, the superintendent of Ekalaka Public Schools asked for an energy audit of the new elementary building and the high school. Over 75 members attended the Dahl Memorial Healthcare Annual Member Meeting last Thursday at Carter County Events Center. Around 90 attended in 2017 while only 45 turned out in 2016. The Ekalaka Public Schools Board of Trustees approved the FY 2019 Budgets for both the Carter County High School and the Ekalaka Elementary School. Mills went from 22.75 in the FY 2018 Elementary District budget to 21.59 in FY 2019 budget. In the High School District mills dropped from 12.80 for FY 2018 to 12.17 in FY 2019. Ekalaka public schools have received a grant through Montana Disaster and Emergency Services in the amount of $64,631.50 to be used for a new generator.
