One teenager died and another was injured in a crash on Highway 7 early Saturday morning, March 19. The Montana Highway Patrol said the two people were headed south near mile marker 9 at about 2:30 a.m. when the car went off the road and rolled several times into a pasture. The ambulance service in Ekalaka has very few EMTs. They range in age from age twenty-four to 70+, and most have other full time jobs. Counting illness and medical leave, there are currently only four people who can take calls. An average month has 1,440 hours which need to be covered by a two-person crew for the ambulance. A record crowd was entertained during the 2021 Carter County Fair Pet Parade last Friday. Seventeen entries consisted of a variety of pets.
