Judges had a difficult time picking winners upon conclusion of the 2019 Days of '85 parade due to a large number of entries. The parade was one of the finest in the last several years. Dahl Memorial Healthcare’s ice bucket challenge will be coming to a close on Sunday, August 11 following the Days of ‘85 parade. The challenge was started at the beginning of July by employees in order to raise funds to build a walking path around the block of the new facility. On July 20, Ekalaka Track and Arena held their annual youth rodeo and ranch rodeo. In addition to the event winners in the youth rodeo, all-around winners for each age group received buckles. Funeral services for Areatha Penn, 89, of Ekalaka, were held May 15 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka with Pastor Scott Kiehn officiating. Burial followed at Beaverlodge Cemetery.
