Employees at Dahl Memorial Healthcare recently rolled up their sleeves, grabbed some icing and gumdrops and competed in a gingerbread house decorating contest. Mary Ann Moore, age 89, passed away on November 21, 2021 at Holy Rosary Extended Care following a short illness from throat cancer. Mary Ann was born on March 6, 1932 to George and Mabel (Kessler) Schettler in Baker, Montana. She was later joined by her younger sister Hazel. On the morning of September 19, 2021, Sarah (Betty) Juanita (née Cope) Moullet passed away peacefully of natural causes. Betty had been residing at the Powder River County nursing home in Broadus, MT at the time of her passing. Betty would have been 93 years old in November. A record crowd was entertained during the 2021 Carter County Fair Pet Parade last Friday. Seventeen entries consisted of a variety of pets. The animals included a duck, a goat, a Highlander, horses, a llama, a pony, sheep and dogs of all shapes and sizes. Carter County Museum's 9th Annual Dino Shindig was well attended this year as the event continues to be one of the more anticipated summer events in Ekalaka. This year, forty-three volunteers worked a total of 850 hours to make the Shindig possible.
