The majority of local voters said no to a pair of school bonds totaling $1.5 million in Tuesday’s mail ballot election. Ekalaka Public Schools would have used the money to design, construct and equip staff housing on property the school already owns. The Carter County High School district bond election for $750,000 failed with 370 votes against and only 119 for. The Fallon-Carter Homemakers clubs learned about several cooking methods during the recent fall council meeting. The Diligent Doers Club hosted the meeting Oct. 4 at Camp Crook Community Center. Sagebrush Service Club’s Annual Holiday Bazaar is quickly approaching. The event will take place on Saturday, November 18th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carter County High School gym. This year lunch, pie and coffee will be available. Free babysitting will also be offered throughout the day for preschool age children, and door prizes will be drawn every 30 minutes. Alvin Lloyd Walker was born in Belle Fourche, SD, May 7, 1934, the first born of William K. Walker and Eunice I. Clem Walker. Alvin was taken home to the Finger Buttes Ranch north of Alzada, Montana, where he spent his youth and young adulthood. I was born Jan. 16, 1930 in Camp Crook, South Dakota to George R. and Jessie (Brewer) Townsend, with a 5-year-old brother, Robert. Camp Crook was an upcoming little community at the time. From the youngest to the oldest attendees at the Dino Shindig July 22-23 in Ekalaka, the participants were fascinated by the speakers from all over the world sharing their latest research and collecting skills. Three local boys are being charged with several felonies in both Carter County and Fallon County following a series of incidents targeting juvenile females last year.
