    Funeral services for Tyler L. Markuson, 55, of Ekalaka were held May 10, 2017, at the Carter County High School gymnasium in Ekalaka with Pastor Steve DeFord officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Family received friends on May 9, 2017 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka.     Lexie Selting, daughter of Dixie (LaBree) Selting and Jamie Selting, wore a 57 year old dress to Fairview's prom on April 22. Her grandmother, Anna (Heggen) LaBree, wore the same dress to her freshman prom at Carter County High School in 1960. In 1987 her mother wore the dress to her senior prom at CCHS. In that year, LaBree altered the dress for her daughter. She added a lot of ruffles since Dixie had shown her a picture of a prom dress she liked from a magazine. "That looks...

    Mail ballots for the current school election were sent out earlier this week. In order for votes to be counted, those ballots must be sent or delivered to Ekalaka Elementary and received before 8:00 p.m. on May 2, 2017. This year there is one position up for election on the board of trustees. That trustee will fill a three year term for Ekalaka Elementary District #15/ High School District #3.     Todd Ziettlow, a 1990 graduate of Carter County High School, will run in the Boston Marathon for a third time this year. Ziettlow first ran in 2012, finishing the grueling 26.2 miles with an official time of 3:26:32. In 2014, Ziettlow improved on his time and finished in 3:01:36, placing 2,620th overall among 35,671 competitors. This year’s marathon will take place on Monday, April 17.
