Sagebrush Service Club recently announced the winners of their annual Christmas lighting contest in Ekalaka. The Lady Bulldogs had a strong showing in Baker last Tuesday as they dismantled their Class B foe and went on to win by 42 points. A huge first quarter put the girls up, 20-4, and they never looked back. The Dogs out-rebounded the Spartans, 27-18, and won the turnover battle, 18-34. On December 11, CCHS traveled to Baker to take on the Spartans. In JV boys action the Dogs trailed by five at halftime, but scored only 12 in the second half and eventually lost, 27-44. It is that time of year again for the Annual MSU Extension Winter Ag Series. The Extension Winter Series program is a cooperative effort between the region’s County Extension offices. When I was a very young child I remember my mom wrapping dozens of packages at Christmas. A big box filled with them went to Kansas where sisters and parents lived. Her brothers moved around with their families before settling in Texas. The presents were never large; men would often get socks, and women received gloves. A fire at Mainstreet Market caused significant damage to the Ekalaka building Monday. At around 5:50 a.m., Sheriff Neil Kittelmann was called because the back door of the business was open and there was graffiti painted on the exterior.
