  • Cooking in the West

    Susan Metcalf|Updated Dec 17, 2020

The countdown to Christmas is on, and I am even more panicked than usual because of added Covid holiday stress. This year, like every other year, I had grandiose plans of creating a Christmas that would make Martha Stewart drool. The reality is that the 2020 Christmas I will create would make Martha laugh until she drooled. We did get the tree up early, which just means that it is already shedding like it is late in evergreen molting season. I think Remi found the biggest fattest tree in the forest. It takes up an entire corn...

  • Conversations with God

    Updated Dec 17, 2020

Hello God, it’s me, Mara: A long time ago when we were kids ‘training’ for Christmas shows, we almost didn’t have ‘nuf kids’ to make the ‘show’ a go! • Merry Christmas & Happy & Prosperous New Year

    Updated Dec 17, 2020

Dear Friends, Neighbors & Clients, I do a very poor job of sending cards, so will pen this letter in summary of the past year. January saw the Western Show in Broadus, followed by the Indian Artifact show in February. The Military and April quilt shows were cancelled because of Covid19. The Spring (April) Community and Feldman Ranch Auction were victims as well. In May the Western Memorabilia &...

  • Making the community stronger through 'placemaking'

Eastern Plains Economic Development Corporation|Updated Dec 16, 2020

submitted by Eastern Plains Economic Development Corporation What is "placemaking?" Placemaking can be confusing and a little bit intimidating for most. Placemaking as an economic development strategy, also called place-based economic development, is the practice of using a community's public amenities to make economic progress. This approach focuses on the unique features of particular places, building on existing assets, and using them to attract new investment and...
