    Sagebrush Service Club is again sponsoring an annual Christmas light decorating contest. This year's judges will be driving around town on Sunday, December 16. Participants who wish to be a part of the contest should have their lights on and decorations up by 6 p.m. The top three winners will each receive a prize!   • Demolition begins

    Demolition started this week on the old Ekalaka Elementary. Above, the 1952 addition is torn down while the original 1942 structure still stands. Current plans are for bids to go out in April of 2019 for the new hospital that will be built on the site....

    Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is requesting permission from the Legislature to replace its current Automated License System (ALS). User input is critical to this process.     Gerald Lee Henderson was born in Malvern, Iowa on August 16, 1931. He was the second son of Roy M. Henderson and Georgia (McGill) Henderson. He served in the US Navy from 1952-1955. He was involved in the development of the first C11 Steam Catapult for the US Navy. The C11 Steam Catapult was used on ships to launch aircrafts on take off.     Ekalaka Volunteer Fire Department members held the drawing for their annual gun raffle fundraiser over the weekend at Dawg House Pub. Cindy Quade was this year’s lucky grand prize winner. She received a custom Howa .243 rifle. Mitch Olsen of Sidney won the second place prize, Vortex binoculars. Local Bill Kalstrom won the third prize, a wildlife print.     Ekalaka native Robert Jesperson was recently honored during this year's homecoming at Montana State University by receiving the Alumni Achievement Award. In addition to the award, Jesperson was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni at MSU. Jesperson graduated from Carter County High School in 1966 and worked in the oilfield near Belgrade, Baker, Bowman, North Dakota and other locations to pay his way through college.
