    Hello, Saturday morning dawned cold and windy. The forecast was for warming by noon, but the brisk wind was dang sure cold early.     Our dishwasher “died” a couple months ago. It had been ailing for many weeks, complaining each night when Brice turned it on. He did that at bedtime because I would have ear plugs keeping the sound away from me. Brice can sleep through anything; I would remain awake without the ear plugs. Eventually the complaints ended and it was silent. Instead of replacing it, Brice just washed the dishes every morning. We don’t use many dishes, both eating off the same plate.     Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has selected Beth R. Shumate as the new state parks administrator. Shumate has served as manager of Hell Creek State Park and most recently as FWP's state trails program manager. She lives near Clancy.     The Carter County FFA Chapter will be holding their annual Indian Taco Feed on Thursday, November 30th, 2017 in the CCHS Tuggle Room.     Droves of people in the holiday spirit turned out for Saturday's activities in Ekalaka. Shoppers frequented Sagebrush Service Club's annual Holiday Bazaar at Carter County High School gymnasium, and Summit National Bank's appreciation day drew around 275 visitors. Other local area businesses also took part in the festivities, giving away door prizes as well as proving to customers that there are great gifts which can be purchased locally for the holidays....

    Ekalaka Elementary Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher Kristy Frye recently secured a grant from Mid-Rivers Communications in the amount of $910.27. The 2017 Mid-Rivers Educational Technology Grant will be used to purchase five new iPad applications. Currently, every student in Mrs. Frye's classroom is able to use their own iPad at school.
