We went to Terry on Friday, there were two girls out sick, and two were injured. The score board does not always reflect what they have accomplished with the positionless offense, passing and defensive skills. They are moving the ball around, dribbling and shooting the ball. We are still working on our free throws to improve our percentage from the line and talking to teammates on defense. Mid-Rivers Communications is offering $108,000 in scholarship funds for Eastern and Central Montana students. The Mid-Rivers Fund for Education, funded by unclaimed capital credits from members, has awarded over $670,000 in scholarships to area students. In 2024, Mid-Rivers will award 36 competitive and 15 drawing scholarships. Scholarship categories reflect the mission and values of the Cooperative and its members. It turned into an Indian summer week at Capitol and on Tie Creek. The week began with a little snow, but that has all melted into some mud. It is good weather to keep the dust down in the corrals, but some have found it difficult to get trucks in for shipping. Wayne Woodman Morford was born on June 4, 1932, in Torrington, Wyoming to Woodman Jacob and Fern Matilda (McClurg) Morford. He grew up on his parents irrigated farm where they raised all classes of livestock and cash crops. He attended school in Torrington for over seven years where he rode a wooden school bus to classes. There have recently been two more wrecks on Montana Highway 7 north of Ekalaka - one involving a cattle pot in September and the other involving the truck shown above. Ekalaka Public Schools Principal Brian Purnell recently resigned from his position. Purnell’s last day in office was Thursday, November 2nd. The school-owned housing that Purnell lived in with his family is already vacant and the K-12 principal position was posted on the Montana Office of Public Instruction website by Tuesday morning. The majority of local voters said no to a pair of school bonds totaling $1.5 million in Tuesday’s mail ballot election. Ekalaka Public Schools would have used the money to design, construct and equip staff housing on property the school already owns. The Carter County High School district bond election for $750,000 failed with 370 votes against and only 119 for.
