    Republican Troy Downing has won Montana's eastern U.S. House race by a wide margin over Democrat John Driscoll. Returns Wednesday morning showed Downing with a 66% vote share, or 174,247 votes. Driscoll, with 89,545 votes, or a 34% vote share, got the most bang for his buck. The Democrat was determined to spend less than $5,000 on the election.     The Lady Bulldogs' volleyball season ended at the 2C district tournament in Glendive last weekend. Their final overall record was 10 wins to 9 losses. CCHS opened tournament play on Halloween with a tough match-up versus the Broadus Lady Hawks. The Lady 'Dogs lost the match in four sets; 13-25, 25-22, 17-25, 7-25.     November 4, 2024 Tie Creek and Capitol got some rain this week. It was actual rain, and the soft drizzle lasted all day.     Just over eighty-six percent of Carter County voters cast ballots in the 2024 Federal General Election on Tuesday. For comparison, 81 percent of voters cast ballots in the 2022 general election, 84 percent did in 2016, 78 percent did in 2018 and 94 percent did in 2020. In total, 865 ballots were cast from the county's 1005 registered voters.     More progress was seen on the veterans memorial at Perso Park in Ekalaka earlier this week, just in time for Veterans Day. The three walls of the memorial are now complete.
