The general municipal election for the Town of Ekalaka, slated for November 7th, will be a mail ballot election this year. CCHS volleyball played Forsyth at home on October 5th. The JV girls lost in four sets, 15-25, 23-25, 15-13, 8-15. Varsity lost in three straight sets, 12-25, 8-25, 18-25. Nasya O'Connor had 6 of the team's 17 kills and their only block. Keli Melton led with 5 of 16 digs and Danica Shepherd had 11 of 13 assists. Erma Albert saved some of her outside plants from freezing, this week. Her petunias were out, but the cold nights just made them more beautiful. On Tuesday, Erma went to physical therapy in Buffalo. She and Dick went to eye appointments in the Hills on Thursday. Luckily, their eyes had not changed much, and they could keep their old glasses. They went to the Senior Citizen Dinner on Friday, and Erma stayed in the afternoon to play cards. Catholic Mass was on Saturday night, this week, and Dick and Erma stayed home to watch...

Linda Leibly (née Sandy), born on May 14, 1941, in Ekalaka, Montana, passed away on July 6, 2023, in Olympia, Washington, after battling lung cancer. She was 82 years old. Daughter of Royal and Viola Sandy (née Cox) and sister to the late Sandra, Linda was deeply rooted in her Montana upbringing. Ekalaka was always home. Her sister and many Cox cousins were particularly dear to her, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime. After completing her nursing degree at Montana State U...

As part of the strategic plan made by the board, staff and community over the last year, one main goal is to offer staff housing for recruitment and retention of staff members of the district. The Sioux Ranger District is planning a prescribed burn in the Ekalaka Hills Land Unit around the MacNab Pond Campground the week of October 16th.
