Growing up in Ekalaka and Carter County, I always had a lot of chores to do. I first milked a cow and retained the milk, at the age of 4 and that was pretty much my job from then on. We always had a milk cow and sometimes more than one. One time my Dad brought home some goats and I had to milk them. Ekalaka Public Schools will hold child developmental screening on Tuesday, October 24 from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. at Ekalaka Elementary School. The screening will be for children aged 0-5 who are not currently in kindergarten. The 28th Annual Alzada Cowboy Poetry, Music and Art Show held on October 1 at the Alzada Hall was a success according to organizers. The proceeds from lunch and donations were greater than last year and over 150 people enjoyed the day. Proceeds from the event are used to pay the yearly insurance on the hall, built in 1929, and other upkeep expenses.
