  • Bulldogs lose big to Dogies

    Updated Oct 5, 2023

The Forsyth Dogies handed the Bulldogs a big loss, 12-50, in what was basically a conference championship game in Forsyth last Friday. The Dogies scored early and often with a running attack where they continually tried to out-flank the Bulldogs with outside runs. The Bulldog defense was indeed porous, and most of Forsyth’s runs gashed Blue for big yardage. The Bulldog offense was held scoreless for most of the game, but did manage a couple of late touchdowns. One came after a good drive when the Dogies still had all of t...

  • Conversations with God

    Updated Oct 5, 2023

Hello God, it’s me, Mara: You know Lord, a couple cousins shared what their girls were looking for in boyfriends to make the boys super husbands. The cousins got a kick out of listening to that chatter - sensing that their girls had noticed several neighbors, some as super families, some just so-so. The cousins giggled, wondering if maybe they, as moms, should make a list to give to YOUNG mothers to encourage their little boys. C.Z. and M.C. took a look at their own husbands, making some comments. C.Z. mentioned: “My hubby’s...

“Is your mom ok?” our Crazy Peak Boutique employee, Larissa, asked my daughter, Brooke, last Wednesday morning. “Define ok,” Brooke replied. In her defense, Brooke has lived almost 38 years of her life realizing that her mom is not exactly normal. “Why do you ask?” Brooke laughed. “Well, customers are asking about her and some incident that happened at the Family Dollar, and I am not sure how to answer. She was gone yesterday, so I don’t know if something happened to her,” Larissa continued. “Oh, she is fine, but that’s a...

  • Letter to the editor

    Updated Oct 5, 2023

October 4, 2023 Mr. Eric Lovec RE: BLM wells for CO2 Carbon sequestration project Dear Eric Just a comment on the BLM meeting to be held October 12; I doubt if any objections will stop the eventual plan, however this is an ill advised idea based totally on political construct to sequester money and power and not on science. Scientists who have looked at the climate change claim by the likes of Al Gore, Pres Obama, Biden and others have pronounced the claim as completely false. First the IPCC doctored their computer program...

To the voters of Ekalaka and surrounding area in regard to the coming vote on the school’s housing bond: The school is already fleecing the taxpayers in town and in the county. The school has already purchased property and housing, removing said properties from the local tax base. The town of Ekalaka exists on taxes. The county owns a lot of ground in Ekalaka with the courthouse, museum, hospital, fairgrounds, old county shop, and Carter County Schools — all non taxable grounds. Everyone likes to complain about streets and...
