The Carter County Bulldogs will look to get back on track this Friday at home versus the Forsyth Doggies after losing to Scobey on their homecoming last week, 22-56. The Bulldogs' record now stands at 2-2 on the season and they will need to beat Forsyth (0-3) in order to maintain a chance at making the playoffs. CCHS struggled again on defense, as they tried several different things to slow down Scobey's passing attack. The Spartans' quarterback, Jayce Tande, finished the...
Hello God, it’s me, Mara: You know, Lord, during this Pandemic time, the passing away of dear ones just ‘feels’ different than it used to, a long while ago. As we grieve for friends who have recently passed on, it was truly most interesting to reread 2 Cor 5:1-10, to ‘learn’ a bit about our future! We read: “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dw...
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will continue chronic wasting disease surveillance this year in high-priority areas known as Priority Surveillance Areas in northwest, southwest and eastern Montana. Hunters who harvest a deer, elk or moose in these areas are asked to voluntarily submit their animal for sampling to help gather additional data for that area. This information will be used to help inform the best management strategies for the affected hunting districts. This year,...
Chorus: The jaws of a beast, One looked at when entering. The man who created it, Marshall Lambert - small town genius. He only walked to work, striding away. Mr. Lambert was a true American. I sat up front, In Sophomore science class. Talk of early horses, Two toes or three, Fossils in the County, Mr. Lambert knew. Chorus: The jaws of a beast, One looked at when entering. The man who created it, Marshall Lambert - small town genius. He only walked to work, striding away. Mr. Lambert was a true American. He had twin boys,...
The 2020 Alzada Cowboy Poetry, Music and Art Show has been canceled. The show has been held on the first Sunday of October for thirty years, but due to COVID concerns and other family events the organizers felt it would be best not to have it in 2020. Organizers appreciate all the loyal support of artists, performers and the large audiences that have gathered “like a family reunion” since 1989 when it was started to celebrate the Montana Centennial. The show has been canceled once before, in 2013 due to the Atlas Bli...
With just one seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, it is critical that we elect someone who will fight for the Montana values of faith, family, and freedom. After examining the records of the two candidates running, I know that Matt Rosendale will fight for our values. Rosendale is a man of faith; he is a vocal advocate for the unborn and stands strong against the assault on religion that has sadly become commonplace on the left. Rosendale is “A” rated and endorsed by the NRA and has a strong record of always fig...
Editor, I’ve had two kidney transplants, and I depend on immunosuppressants to prevent my body from rejecting the new kidney. My insurance requires that I receive my medication through the USPS. I could die if my medication does not come in the mail on time. The procedural changes that Postmaster General DeJoy has made have delayed mail delivery all over the county. I’m incredibly worried that these changes and the federal government’s inability to appropriately fund the USPS will cause my own medication to be delayed. I sho...

Chris Young had a hit country song a few years back entitled "I Hear Voices", and I think it was written for me! The first line is, "You can say I'm a little bit crazy. You can call me insane." Of course, these things are true, but he goes on to describe these voices of his ancestors in his head. Not only do I have those, but it is fall cattle working season so I am dealing with voices ringing loudly in my ears--despite my suggestion a few columns back that masks would help muffle the sounds of families working cattle. There...

Discussion at Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association’s Annual Meeting last week was focused around progress on the new building project.
