Multiple Carter County High School classes held reunions over the Days of '85 weekend in Ekalaka....
The Ekalaka Bump-N-Run Association had its race on Saturday, August 14th. There were 10 stock and 7 modified drivers with a total of two heat races for both classes and an 'A' main. All in all, the day went well. It was a little warm but the track was in good shape considering the dry conditions this year. Hello God, it’s me, Mara: You know, Lord, a while back, friends stopped by one cool day; we sat out and watched a variety of birds checking out the birdbath. Sparrows seemed to enjoy dipping, sipping and just checking around. A few Robins came by, sipping deep, followed by several Black Birds. Even a colorful Woodpecker stopped to check things out. Due to current dry conditions and high fire danger throughout much of Montana, hunters may encounter some Block Management Area closures or restrictions. In Southeastern Montana’s Region 7, as of Aug. 13 there were 19 BMAs in eight counties that were either closed or limiting access. The list of BMAs is attached. A record crowd was entertained during the 2021 Carter County Fair Pet Parade last Friday. Seventeen entries consisted of a variety of pets. The animals included a duck, a goat, a Highlander, horses, a llama, a pony, sheep and dogs of all shapes and sizes. Hometown Heroes, being the theme, brought up many hilarious, clever and heartfelt entries. A graveside service for Betty (Kalstrom) Van Ransler, 94, formerly of Ekalaka, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka, Montana. Keith A. Larson, 88, of Spearfish, SD formerly of Ekalaka, MT passed away peacefully at his home in Spearfish on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Keith was born a twin with his brother Kent on April 12, 1933, in Reeder, ND, to Arnold and Martha Larson. Keith and his siblings grew up on the 1910 homestead in Reva (Ralph), SD. As summer is waning and school is starting, First Baptist Church is happy to announce the return of AWANA clubs.
