    The Ekalaka Bump-N-Run Association had its race on Saturday, August 14th. There were 10 stock and 7 modified drivers with a total of two heat races for both classes and an 'A' main. All in all, the day went well. It was a little warm but the track was in good shape considering the dry conditions this year. Sparrows seemed to enjoy dipping, sipping and just checking around. A few Robins came by, sipping deep, followed by several Black Birds. Even a colorful Woodpecker stopped to check things out.   • Some block management areas in Region 7 closed or restricted

    Due to current dry conditions and high fire danger throughout much of Montana, hunters may encounter some Block Management Area closures or restrictions. In Southeastern Montana’s Region 7, as of Aug. 13 there were 19 BMAs in eight counties that were either closed or limiting access. The list of BMAs is attached. Statewide, there are just over 70 closed or restricted BMAs. Hunters are advised to check back closer to their hunt to ensure access, as conditions may change daily.   • 2021 pet parade features hometown heroes

    A record crowd was entertained during the 2021 Carter County Fair Pet Parade last Friday. Seventeen entries consisted of a variety of pets. The animals included a duck, a goat, a Highlander, horses, a llama, a pony, sheep and dogs of all shapes and sizes. Hometown Heroes, being the theme, brought up many hilarious, clever and heartfelt entries. Keith was born a twin with his brother Kent on April 12, 1933, in Reeder, ND, to Arnold and Martha Larson. Keith and his siblings grew up on the 1910 homestead in Reva (Ralph), SD. Beginning September 8th, clubs will meet every Wednesday for the duration of the school year.
