August 5, 2024 This has been another terribly hot week at Capitol and on Tie Creek. Finally, early on Sunday, we got about an eighth of an inch of rain, that instantly soaked up. The grasshoppers have tamed down a little, and we are lucky to have only a few mosquitoes. Erma Albert had an appointment at the clinic in Buffalo, on Monday. Seeing all the county fair posts on Facebook brings back a flood of fond memories of my own 4-H years and those of my children. One of my not so fond 4-H memories was Brooke's 4-H cat project. HELENA – The Montana Department of Revenue (DOR) will soon be distributing its second round of property tax rebates to eligible Montana taxpayers as part of a property tax relief package signed into law by Governor Greg Gianforte in 2023. The Carter County Fair board and T- & Casino are excited to see what the community comes up with for the fair’s pet parade this year. The theme for this year’s fair is “Carter County Fair, it’s a Jungle out There!” The theme leaves all kinds of possibilities for costumes so kids can let their imaginations run wild! The Annual Days of ‘85 Firemen’s Barbecue will be taking place at a different location this year. Ekalaka Volunteer Fire Department members will be serving pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and beans at the future home of EVFD which is located at the corner of E. Local Mikel Fruit was recently honored as the Montana Outstanding Lifetime Volunteer for 2024 for Montana 4-H at 4-H Congress in Bozeman on July 11th.
