    USPS recently hiked the price of a stamp to sixty-six cents, a 32 percent increase since 2019. The change took effect July 9th, and was an increase of 4.8 percent from the previous cost of 63 cents. The move is the latest in a flurry of rate boosts that will result in the cost of a first-class stamp rising nearly one-third since 2019.   • Play cribbage Thursdays in Ekalaka

    Everyone is welcome to attend cribbage nights, beginning this week, on Thursday evenings at the Carter County Senior Citizen Center. Cribbage, a card game with two players, involves playing and grouping cards in order to gain points.   • Town election takes shape

    The general municipal election for the Town of Ekalaka, slated for November 7th, will be a mail ballot election this year. The Carter County Clerk and Recorder’s Office will mail ballots to all registered active voters who reside within the boundaries of Ekalaka. Active electors will be able to vote in the privacy of their own homes. A municipal primary election that would have taken place in September was canceled due to a lack of candidates. The Town of Ekalaka has allowed Perso Park to be the construction site of a tribute to local veterans, taking down the gazebo that once stood to make room. There have been meetings had, plans laid, donations made and bids sought. However, the price of materials skyrocketed post covid and best laid plans fell a little behind financially, putting the project in neutral. L...
