    June, 2024 On the 3rd day of June one of our newest residents passed away, Catherine Smith. Catherine lived here only a few short weeks. She is the grandmother of Willow Meyer, one of our nurses. Catherine was a very sweet gracious lady. Extending our deepest sympathy to her family. The 4th and 5th Dahl Memorial hosted a health fair. Overall, it was successful, all the lab work was able to be processed right here in our own lab. In years past everything had to be shipped out to a larger lab. Tuesday afternoon Bingo was on...

    Lily “Eileen” Treadway has been awarded the Carter County Congregate Meal Bid for fiscal year 2024/2025. The meals will be served Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning Monday, July 22nd.     Anna Heggen LaBree In 1884, Anna Heggen LaBree's grandfather Edward Heggen filed his homestead three miles NE of Ekalaka.     The lack of moisture on the Sioux Ranger District has created the need for the Custer Gallatin National Forest to implement Stage 1 Fire Restrictions in the Long Pines area in both Carter County, MT and Harding County, SD.     On Saturday, July 13th, the Sioux Ranger District of the Custer Gallatin National Forest experienced a thunderstorm event with winds exceeding 100mph. On the Forest, this storm system caused damage to some developed sites, power outages, and has blocked roads trails particularly in the Ekalaka Hills, Long Pines, and East Short Pines land units.     On July 13th, a severe thunderstorm event with winds reportedly exceeding 100 mph swept through the county - and entire region - causing widespread damage to trees, crops, outbuildings and many homes.
