On February 6th temperatures dropped below zero degrees Fahrenheit for only the second time this winter. The first came on January 25th when it reached negative one in Ekalaka. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is continuing to offer free online courses for youth and adults interested in hunter and bowhunter education. In response to social distancing requirements and restrictions on group gatherings, FWP moved to all online courses for hunter and bowhunter education certification in May of 2020. Carter County's Spray Day will be held on Wednesday, February 24. The annual program is a collaboration of efforts between the Extension office and county weed department. Dear Editor, As a lifelong resident and tax payer in Carter County I found the information from the staff of Dahl Memorial and the County Commissioners very informative. I have always found the staff at the hospital very competent and am very thankful for their help many times. Unfortunately there is so much information that is never known. Winter has been fairly kind to us up until this past weekend when we suddenly plunged into the deep freeze. We do not start calving until mid-March, but my heart goes out to the people who are calving and lambing in this cold snowy weather. The CCHS Lady Bulldogs held the Longhorns scoreless in the fourth quarter and pulled away with an 18 point victory in Wibaux on Saturday. The ‘Dogs had a two-point lead heading into the final frame before outscoring the ‘Horns 16-0 over the final eight minutes. Heidi LaBree led all scorers with 15 points. The JV boys’ basketball team won on a last second ‘throw’ at the basket on Saturday in Wibaux. The Dogs got off to a slow start and were down double digits in the second quarter before storming back in the third when they outscored the Longhorns 24-6.
