Town of Ekalaka NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS ALL dogs in the Town Limits are to have their annual license by the end of January 2025. If you live within the Town Limits of Ekalaka and have a dog, Town Ordinances require that dog is licensed. To license your dog, take the following information to the Ekalaka Town Office: 1) Written proof that the dog has been neutered/spayed. 2) Current Rabies Vaccination Certification that does not expire during the year of licensing. Dogs shall be licensed within 30 days of being brought into Town; puppies shall be licensed within 5 months of their birth. (Puppies 3 months old need a rabies shot with a booster at 1 year of age). Cost of licenses: For a dog that is NOT neutered/spayed $25.00 each; a neutered/spayed dog is $5.00. For every 2nd dog the price doubles; for a third dog the price triples and so on. For dogs licensed after January 31, 2025, the costs of licenses double. Violation of any provision will carry the following penalties and may constitute a misdemeanor: First Offense $35.00 fine; Second Offense $70.00 fine; Third Offense $300 fine and relocation or destruction of the animal. A decision will be made by law enforcement and/or town council as to whether the dog will be relocated or destroyed. If the dog cannot be relocated in a reasonable time; it will then be destroyed (Per Town Ordinance). For additional information, call the Town Office 406-775-8731.
